So, how am I paid?
How is an Independent Medicare Broker paid?
An independent Medicare broker like myself (Antonio Espino Insurance) will contract with many different insurance carriers.
The reason they do this is because they are then able to shop your policy through different carriers and provide you with the most competitive coverage and price. Savvy shoppers know that an independent broker focus on educating their clients first and then let them make the decision themselves. This is the most ethical way I have found to do things.
So, the process works like this:
- You call or submit your request for Medicare information
- We discuss your healthcare wants and needs
- You choose the policy that fits you best (Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage)
- Our commission is paid by the insurance company
- I continue to provide you service and support throughout many years

At Antonio Espino Insurance, I help you understand Medicare and provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision.
I am also able to provide you with information like financial ratings and premium increase trends that you may not be able to find on your own. Of course, this only applies if you would like a Medigap Plan.
Also, only independent insurance brokers offer unbiased opinions on plans from different Medicare companies so you can feel comfortable and confident in your decision.
Is your service really free?
Yes! You do not pay a dime for my help. The price you pay for a Medicare Advantage, Supplement, or Part D plan will be the same whether you buy it from the insurance company directly or whether you get it through an independent broker like myself.
I make a commission from the insurance company for selling their product. That’s how Medicare agents are paid. If you buy directly from the insurance company, they keep that commission and you don’t get any of the customer service that you would get from a broker like myself.
How can I meet with you?
There are many ways for us to talk and enroll into your Medicare plan. I normally would like to sit down and talk with my clients face to face. But sometimes that might not be possible for whatever reason or circumstance. So I have solutions:
- I do Home Visits! This is still a common practice and an option if you do not want to meet anywhere.
- We can meet at an office! Since I offer my service to the people in the Rio Grande Valley…I also have to have some offices. I have an office in Brownsville, Tx, Harlingen, Tx, and Pharr, Tx where we can meet.
- We can discuss and enroll over the PHONE! Afterall, we are in the 21st century. This is an option if we can not meet in person or if you would prefer it that way.
What type of Medicare Service you can expect from me after you become my client?
1. I always mail newsletters to my Medicare customers twice a year. Once in the beginning of October and once in the beginning of March. The reason is to remind them that I am still here if they have any questions or concerns regarding their Medicare or any other insurance product purchased from me. It is also the beginning and end of the months for when one can make a change to their Medicare.
2. If you lose your Medicare insurance card and you need your membership information fast…Who are you going to call? I have access to your membership information and I can also provide the insurance company number in case you have additional questions.
3. Do you need help applying for a Medicare Savings Program or Extra Help? You can call me. I can either walk you through the process or help you apply for it. It can be a little bit confusing and I have done it plenty of times. This is a FREE SERVICE as well. The only thing I ask from you is for me to become your Medicare agent. This is the only way I get paid for my time.
